Couldn't resist with the weather being so mild,..so I hit the water in Saybrook for about 2 hours leading up to sunset on the falling tide. Water was cool but still pretty tolerable in shorts & sandals, I'd guess the temp in the low 60's. Saw the occasional school of bluefish chasing small baitfish on the surface,...however I only managed to get over to them once while they were still active. I picked up one about 4-5 lbs on a pencil popper that one time, and I also caught a barely legal striper on a tube & worm in between chasing after the bluefish,...so all in all a pretty fun outing! Supposed to be even warmer today so I will probably be out there again this afternoon/evening! fishn2.gif

Ahh, the waning warmth of an Indian Summer...thank you, thank you, thank you! I was beginning to think that Winter had come early.

I am thinking about the weekend. I'm interested in hitting either the Bayberry launch for blackfish and tunoid alert, or perhaps the Thames River, as it is loaded with bunker, and very large stripers and blues.

Any thoughts?

That photo on the left is of my buddy G. Ray, paddling into a sunset off Old Saybrook -- a sunset I'll never forget -- and an evening of struggling against the tide and current that he'll never forget!

The profile photo is on the Salmon River, Altmar, NY with a nice, cold, January steelhead on the fly, and me experimenting with a mustache and the rabbit hat. The hat stayed, the mustache...gone!
