Well, BB's #1 and #2 hit the river for a nightime excursion to see if those bass had shaken off the cobwebs from this past weekend's rain event.

As compared to the previous time when we fished, there was much more fish and bait in the river. But as it always is with me and my buddy, we were forced to work hard. The first two and half hours yielded nothing as we tried the shallows, drop offs and deep water.

As we returned to our first location, Kev removed the tube he was using and threw on a 4" Crystal Minnow. Bam - that was the ticket. Here is the first fish of the night and a keeper at that (28-30").

Kev tallied 6 or 7 to my 1, which was caught on my paddle back to the launch. But that fish did save me from the dreaded skunk! Very modest numbers, but during this time of the season, you have to expect some inconsistency.

Notes:

Although there was a ton of bait, we never marked any huge schools of bass. A lot of loners amongst the bait. With the fish spread out as they were last night, I knew we'd have to paddle our butts off to get into some fish.

The river was like a pond last night. Starry night, slight breeze working against the tide, and very comfortable air temps. Water temps hovered around 53 most of the night - which is about 2-4 degrees lower than it was prior to the rains. With a nice weekend approaching, we may see an uptick in the activity.

Sincerely,

Special K's Attorney
ESQ. Hobie Wan

That is the best part of the pic, no mug shot to ruin the photo.

As Rol mentioned we did have to do some paddling before actually finding the fish, which was not a problem with the conditions we had, absolutely beautiful. As always, good weather + good company = a great time. I look forward to the weekend.

Lefty:

Although many are still holdovers, there have been more and more bass with lice being caught over the last week or so.

There coming buddy. Hang in there!
