I fished out of my new big game saturday morn.
And I was very impressed with It, at least how it handled the rough water around Napatree point.
It handled the waves, swells and boat wakes with ease, even from the side or the dreaded two or three close waves in a row were your bow plows in to a wave while coming off the previous wave.
Just glided over it all, like being in a big old cadallic cruising down the highway.

Not so crazy with cockpit configeration though.
Allthough it is very roomy.
GPS fishfinder location is quite far away, as is designated spots for add on fishins holders.
And there is a cener console that a can't quite figure out how to use or what do with it.
BIG hatch between thighs is nice touch.
And although I't has a rudder it isn't very responsive, It seems like rudder only catches a few inches or water.
Seems to be a little short.
But I't may be a "angler" rudder, a little shorter to get in close to the rocks and such.

I also met a King cove cronnie "Salmon tim" I think he said,
He paddles a Hobie.
Very nice gentleman, gave me a few very helpfull tips.
Thanks Tim if your out there.
He also turned me on to ultimate kayakfishing.com site .

Oh by the way I did manage to catch a few schoolies, but mainly I wanted to get orientated with the yak and get a feel for how it handles in big water.

Congrats on your maiden cruise CC. Glad to hear you ran into Tim. as far as your fish finder being too far away, there are a few things available to get it closer to you. check out My rig
its put together from RAM components and I can adjust it way out of the way to right up in front of my face. Its over kill though and I could do with only one of the arms just fine. Its hard to describe but it you want to try something like that let me know and we can meet so you can eye ball the rig for ideas.

I have to agree with Robert, the RAM products make it easy to place equipment where you need it.

Let us know next time you are fishing around Napatree, maybe wee can hook up.

Safe is relative at night. It's a boat channel there and you have to be more careful. If it's a lot of traffic stay out of the channel and away from can 5 & 7. If you go south east from Barn Island there is a boulder field (I think it's can 13 & 15) that is productice at high tide night fishing. Same for the flats and point behind the boulder field.

Nils couldn't have said it better. Be careful around cans 5 and 7. It is NOT UNCOMMON for boats to burn through there doing 30mph with no regard to oncoming boats are the little guys (yes, us kayakers).
