I spent this last weekend at the Hartford Boat Show working at my buddies boat display and I had lots of spare time so I used some of it to talk with the CT Dept of Environmental Protection. chatter.gif This is what they told me about marine licensing;

Connecticut has a reciprocity clause in the law. We will honor any states license as long as they will honor ours.

GOOD NEWS!!! biggthumpup.gif RI and MA will not have licenses in place for the 2010 season but they DO have a law. Their laws include reciprocity to all states that return the favor. The law is in place although the physical licensing is lagging behind therefore MA & RI residents that register with NOAA for the 2010 season will be able to fish CT waters.

BAD NEWS bleh.gif New York grants reciprocity only to states that have "common waters". This means that common waters with CT are only those IN long Island Sound. (the race is the line) and for RI it is the waters outside the race excluding the south shore of Long Island. MA residents will have to purchase a NY non resident license at $15 to fish anywhere in NY while CT & RI residents will have to purchase the license to fish NY waters that aren't "common".
