After an experience two season ago with a very big, very stubborn chopper I've been thinking about building myself a short saltwater fly rod for kayak fishing.
The plan was to find myself a med-light action spinning blank of about 6.5- 7 feet and 'convert' it.
As I was searching the web yesterday for suitable blanks, it occurred to me that I had some old spinning rods in my parts collection and maybe I already had a good blank that I could recycle.
Well I found something even better
A four piece, 9', 9wt with a shattered butt section
The upper 3 sections should make a dandy 8/9 rod of 6'9".... just what I was looking for
I have all the parts that I need already except for the stripping guide
I was even able to 'recycle' the grip

It pays never to throw anything away biggrin.gif

Of course I should probably finish the 3 other rods I have in the works first....naaa
