I am so ready for fishing, this winter is messy and cold. Started raining tonight - raining...

Then dude sent me a nice picture where he's on his way down to fish Florida, and I know my kayak have more fun than I do.

I have added an Ultimate Kayak Fishing page on facebook for anyone who are cruising the internet instead of the ocean in this cold weather...

so what is you cure for winter doldrums? I know Dude's cure is Florida...

I still need to break out the reels for their annual clean, lube & re-line. I'll need another week or two for that,...but after that I'm ready for spring. wink.gif laugh.gif
I've never tried it,..but i understand that the CT River pike are pretty active right after ice-out,..so i may have to give it a try this year. If anyone else is interested in chasing some early season river wolves let me know!! cool.gif
Then, just a few weeks past that and it's gonna be striper-time! I learned a lot last season & I plan to put a real hurting on them this time around,...can't wait for that!! banana.gif banana.gif

ps: Great job on all the social-web stuff for UKF Nils!! cpu.gif biggthumpup.gif

I have to do the same - first I have to find them since they are packed away...

I never tried CT river for pike, I guess I have to do more freshwater fishing this spring so it will be interesting to see if (when) I catch my first largemouth... I guess I'll be the pumpkin seed specialist biggrin.gif

DonO figured out how to get on FaceBook, it took me two months to figure out how to setup the UKF page.... tongue.gif

I'm looking forward to add more video's to the YouTube channel, I have to be more active this winter and spring getting all my gear (video and fishing) ready for the season.

Based on the datestamp this picture was taken around 6:16PM last night Florida Keys where my kayak is on vacation (kayak is the shadow you see in top left part of the picture)

The signs are here, winter woes and winter doldrum has set in, now the rest of the winter will be rambling posts until the kayak is back in the water with me on top...

Don't worry Nils,...I'll put you on a (freshwater) bass or two after work anytime! wink.gif
What lake is it that you are moving close to?

As far as the winter doldrums go, I'm personally hoping for a mild rest-of-the-winter in order to balance out the severity of the first half!! Around noon-time yestarday, it sure felt like fishing weather to me!! Then on the drive home, I noticed that the entire expanse of the river seen from Rt 9 in Middletown was completely open without an iceberg in sight!! cool.gif

Grab an auger and get out there. I've been getting out since new years. Large mouths and pickerel are very aggresive right now. Some real nice pike have been coming up the hole too. Had my brother out 2 weeks ago and we were chasing flags all morning. The football playoffs are in full swing, then the shows start up. It's what you make of it.
