DEP's Farmington River Enhancement Grant Deadline Approaches Applications Due On January 14, 2009
  The Department of Environmental Protection(DEP) is requesting grant proposals from non-profit, local, municipal, state and federal agencies and academic institutions for various ecosystem management projects in the Connecticut portions of the Farmington River Basin, including, but not limited to: river restoration, dam removal, fish habitat enhancement, sediment removal and stream bank stabilization to restore Connecticut portions of the Farmington River.

  Wildlife photographer and Master Wildlife Conservationist Gary Melnysyn will visit the DEP Wildlife Divisions's Sessions Woods Conservation Education Center, in Burlington, on Sunday, January 11, at 2:00 p.m., to provide a virtual tour into the lives of bears.

Governor Rell Announces Purchase Of Sunrise Resort In East Haddam
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state has completed the purchase of the 143-acre former Sunrise Resort property, which is located in the Moodus section of East Haddam adjacent to the scenic Machimoodus State Park.

DEP Says Study Of Artificial Fields Now Set To Assess Health And Environmental Impact of Crumb Rubber
  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) says steps are now in place to conduct a study to determine if there are health and environmental impacts resulting from the use of crumb rubber for artificial turf playing fields.
